A fascinating floor covering with an incredible story, the Tiberius reinterprets an on-trend distressed aesthetic with antiquity in mind.
THE DEVERILL VILLA
In February 2016, bespoke rug designer Luke Irwin unearthed an ancient secret lying beneath his Wiltshire home – an intricate mosaic forming part of Britain’s most magnificent Roman villa. That chance encounter spurred Irwin to innovate an incredible collection of mosaic-inspired rugs, transforming an ancient marker of luxury for the modern age.
MOSS MOOD/h6>
In a moody palette of cream and blue-green tones, the Tiberius design brings a classical air into any room in your choice of dimensions– yet one that has been slowly eroded over time, gradually reclaimed by nature. Using an iron oxide solution at the washing stage of creation, woollen areas melt away leaving a mosaicked plane of Persian hand-knotted silk with an elegantly distressed aesthetic.
TRADITIONAL TECHNIQUES
The distribution of colouring is truly unique to each piece, courtesy of the rug’s entirely hand-made production by skilled artisans in India. Several months of crafting using traditional techniques, from fibre to finish, ensure a masterpiece of the highest quality.
