The arrival of American brand Bernhardt Furniture to LuxDeco brought at least three of the fine furniture expert’s inspiring collections, each designed to offer a cohesive design aesthetic with a compelling narrative. The collections – the Criteria collection, the Marquesa collection and the Profile collection – tell their individual stories. The first of a transitional space; the second, of a classically inspired European home; and the last, of a timeless urban vibe.

Discover the influences behind the collections, what our Interiors Director Linda Holmes has to say about them and our style it with recommendations.

Bernhardt Criteria Collection

Transitional design is a defining characteristic of Bernhardt’s offering and nowhere is this seen more clearly than in the Criteria collection. High-sheen finishes, faux lizard patterns and silver-toned metal detailing epitomise the look in an effortless way.

Key pieces

The Criteria collection brilliantly incorporates classical motifs – such as the interlocking C and latticing – for a timeless and composed aesthetic.

Match the collection’s timeless transitional style with pieces which are equally ageless. An abstract artwork is the perfect way to add an accent colour to your space which can be echoed by a lustrous rug. A pretty floral arrangement in a perfectly imperfect ceramic pot and a not-quite-so-traditional shade chandelier strike that balance between traditional and contemporary.

Bernhardt Marquesa Collection

Described as a neo-traditional collection, the Marquesa collection translates time-honoured motifs and silhouettes (think eglomise glass, button tufting and Moorish latticing) into an elegantly current range thanks to an of-the-moment grey cashmere palette and fresh textiles.

You can’t get more feminine than the Marquesa collection. The mirrored finishes, the button tufting, the scrolling – it’s feminine design done well.

Temper the elaborate Moorish-inspired details and glistening mirror glass with a matte ceramic table lamps and distressed Aubusson rug. Accessorise with splashes of cobalt in the forms of a painterly vase and a flurry of eternal blooms for a seasonal update.

Bernhardt Profile Collection

Combining rustic finishes with clean lines, the Profile collection answers the need for a modern collection with provenance and warmth. Uninterrupted planes of walnut veneers in a warm taupe colourway and chic plated brass detailing combine in this truly smart collection.

I love the warmth of the Profile collection combined with its modern lines. The result is something decidedly contemporary but welcoming.

Thanks to its simplicity, the Profile collection works well with a variety of different decor styles. We like to keep it understated with a few bold choices. Keeping hard accessories (such as vases and lamps) plain and translucent offers light visual relief to the heaviness of the pieces. Then work a little bit of texture and pattern into the collection with a bold cushion and artwork in a tonal palette.
