Le Bristol: Chic French Design

Discover Le Bristol’s quintessentially Parisian je ne sais quoi

As they say, Paris is one of the most romantic cities in the world – it inspires love, encourages spontaneous gestures and introduces all who walk its streets to a breathtaking and rare charm. With every turn there is a grand landmark to marvel at, a cosy café in which to sip lattes and watch the stylish locals walk by, an amazing boutique in which to buy your new-season wardrobe or a lively boulevard to get lost in. There are hotels to suit every visitor, from the palatial to the contemporary, the trendsetting to the classical.

Le Bristol epitomises quintessential Parisian chic; the perfect measure of old-world charm and service

But when you’re in a place as chic as Paris, the only way to experience the city is with the best of everything, which is why Le Bristol is currently our number one pick. A city landmark itself, the establishment is located on the Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré – famous for its fashion boutiques and art galleries, and mere minutes away from the Champs-Elysées, Place de la Concorde and the Louvre. Having recently undergone a three-year, €110m refurbishment, Le Bristol still epitomises quintessential Parisian chic; the perfect measure of old-world charm and service that can be described no other way than, well, perfection.

The Interiors

With its illustrious history, Le Bristol is undeniably grand. A temple of polished marble, the welcome is refreshingly warm, not stuffy. On the whole, the style errs on the classic side with just enough risk-taking: red carpeted lobbies, staple Louis XVI-inspired fauteuils, fabulous antiquities and display cabinets with pieces by Paris’ premier jewellers adorns the halls. It speaks of an earlier era and makes no effort to be modish, but that’s its real charm. Keep a look out for the divine fluffy white cat on the concierge desk; this is Fa-raon, the hotel pet. Don’t be fooled, Fa-raon owns the place.

The Rooms

One hundred and eighty eight in total, the rooms are exquisite. Lots of marble and chandeliers, classic boiserie walls hung with gilded mirrors, bold climbing flower prints, luxuriant Canovas and Pierre Frey fabrics and antique cane-backed furniture are all characteristically Le Bristol. The spacious rooms and suites are further enhanced by 18th century decor – Louis XV and Louis XVI-style sitting rooms – and original paintings, combined with all the 21st century comforts. One of our favourite things was the generous white Carrara marble bathroom with separate shower – complete with Hermes soaps, of course. There are also terraces that adjoin some of the rooms and suites overlooking the garden and some of Paris’ most breathtaking views.

The Restaurants

From the classic and light Michelin-starred Epicure (the restaurant currently holds three) to the hip Le 114 Faubourg – with gilded columns and colour popping floral accents – every food experience at Le Bristol is sensational, with service and surroundings to match. The former is an example of archetypal French surrounds – think marble-topped sideboardselegant stemware and a gold chandelier to rival Versailles – whilst the latter is ideal for those looking for something a little more modern – Le 114 Faubourg is a luxury brasserie awash with pink and orange florals, and a beautiful wrought-iron staircase bannister with winding golden leaves. Don’t leave the hotel without trying the artichoke soup, scrambled eggs with truffle shards and a cheese course (or two).

The Garden

Renowned for its outdoor spaces, the flower-filled interior courtyard comprises a vast sitting space and dining area. It is the perfect mini Garden of Eden to relax and unwind in the heart of this bustling city.

The Spa

The luxurious Spa Le Bristol by La Prairie redefines the hotel’s art de vivre. Consisting of eight treatment rooms, a fitness centre, a hair salon and a kids club, “Les Amis d’Hippolyte”, the spa offers everything you could possibly want. If you’re looking for total relaxation and a beauty treatment that does everything it promises and more, we highly recommend you add this to your to-do list while at the hotel. Trust us, you will not be disappointed.
