Janine Stone's Marble and Brass Bathroom

“White marble stone is an elegant and versatile material choice for any bathroom. I have used it to great effect in past projects to create both classical and contemporary interiors. In one particular project, a townhouse in London’s Belgravia district, we achieved a striking contemporary look by accenting two different marbles with the antique brass hues of the Bathroom’s bespoke fixtures. In contrast, by referencing the natural grey-blue tones typically found in similar white marbles, your accent choices can help create a more traditional aesthetic”

Katharine Pooley's Calacatta Bathroom

“A white bathroom is timelessly elegant and effortlessly smart. To give a serenely lux feel (rather than just plain or starkly bright ) I like to combine slabs of light-toned marble with subtle veining like Statuario Oro or Calacatta Oro with warm-toned hardware. A white bathroom is the perfect backdrop for statement hardware in richer metals like bronze, antiqued brass or polished nickel - I love French brand THG Paris, or American brand Waterworks. Without colour to distract, you have to really nail the details: bespoke vanity units, sculptural wall lights and a smart free-standing bath all add an instant wow factor to a neutral scheme.”

1508's Black and White Bathroom

“In a world that is consistently more hectic and challenging, the white bathroom brings serenity to the most intimate of spaces at home,” reveals 1508’s design director Maria Mallalieu. “White doesn’t have to be cold and stark. White is spa-like and luxurious – clean, calm and timeless. We think about the materials we will touch – for example how the floor feels under bare feet. We layer lighting (task with mood); shades of white; texture; and highlight the tapware. We allow surfaces to rest scented sticks and candles; niches for soaps and scrubs. We carefully select the shower heads (light rain/ power/ settings) and create the mood around the bathtub for the ultimate experience.”

1508’s Relaxing White Bathroom

Quite possibly one of the most serene bathrooms around, this 1508 designed oasis shows how a white bathroom doesn’t have to feel cold. Marble covered walls complement the cabinetry in the same, grey-veined stone to create a cohesive and clean look. A clever way to conceal all those unsightly products, the Jack and Jill sink area works as the perfect place to display simple floral arrangements and your favourite scents. Floor-length curtains work alongside the warm-toned metals to soften the space and to enhance the inescapably tranquil feeling that this space emulates. Complete the look with soft white robes and towels and this will be a room you’ll never want to leave.

Laura Hammett’s Grey and White Bathroom

This modern and spacious bathroom was created by none other than Laura Hammett, a woman known for her classic contemporary approach to style. One look at this bathroom and it is clear why she is one of the country’s most in demand designers. Cleverly balancing this bright white space with black accents and grey veining throughout the stone keeps this large room feeling grounded and interesting whilst the curved lines of the bath soften the strong lines of the glass and marble. Recreate this clean look with simple white towels, chrome hardware and little else.
