Though my style tends to lean towards a more eclectic aesthetic, I find rooting rooms with traditional furniture is a good rule to avoid crossing the fine line into a cluttered space.

6 Masculine Interior Design Ideas

Pairing a classic piece such as the Howard Armchair with directional accents is my tried-and-true solution. The addition of Kelly Behun's equal parts whimsical-and-considered footed bowl for L'Objet or a few well-placed dynamic patterns creates a subtle contrast that I rather enjoy. It's an alchemy full of depth and interest which is imperative for good design.

Good design. The ever subjective and sometimes increasingly elusive concept. For me, it will always be style plus function minus excess. The Ovo basket by Italian leather brand Pinetti strikes one as the perfect example of this formula—a beautifully crafted piece which balances just enough of all three effortlessly. Indeed, so far been unable to disabuse myself of the notion that it (filled to the brim with tomes), the aforementioned Howard armchair and the Vincent side table, in its rather divine deep-toned rowan wood, should be the newest addition to my office.
