A country as vast as the United States is bound to offer a wide array of interior design brands and, with the country becoming an increasingly well-respected design authority, the industry’s attention is turning to the names making noise across the Atlantic.

Whilst American homeware brands have been a favourite for many years, nowadays even American furniture brands are gaining traction – showing promise of being some of the most exciting in the business.

Here’s our round up of 10 of the luxury home decor brands in the USA that you should know.

Would you expect anything less of Estée Lauder’s granddaughter, New York socialite and longtime cosmetics businesswoman, than a lifestyle brand with more class than you can shake a stick at?

First on our list of luxury homeware brands from the USA is Aerin Lauder, who fills the collections of her eponymous brand – founded in 2012 – with pretty home accessories inspired by childhood years in Vienna, her love of art and a chic style sensibility.

Tried and true vases, jewellery boxes, trays and photo frames designs are reimagined each season in beautiful new finishes and hues. Shagreen in pastel hues complements tortoiseshell lighting and everything is gold-rimmed harking back to Estée’s belief that gold was the perfect “modern neutral”.

Autumn/Winter 2016 sees the introduction of delicate crystal lighting and a timeless grey colour palette.

2. Michael Aram

Artist-maker Michael Aram might base his luxury homeware brand out of the USA's trendy Chelsea district in New York, but his American brand is all soul. Having worked (and lived part-time) in India for the better part of three decades, Michael has successfully tapped into the country’s rich craftsmanship heritage, keeping it alive and well for the modern interior design enthusiast.

One end of the spectrum, there are handcrafted metal serveware, covered with pretty butterfly-like ginkgo leaves, and bathroom trinkets with woven palm motifs; on the other, there are moody Joshua tree inspired vases and stylised rock finishes.

Not only are Michael’s wares special but his business ethic is admirable. He directly employs 230 craftspeople in his own workshop in India. The personal touch is so much of what makes this american homeware brand tick.

Next on our list of top home decor brands in the USA is Ralph Lauren. The polo player logo which adorns its clothes has become a symbol of the finer things in life. And, whilst the American brand’s furniture and luxury homeware ranges don’t bear such an obvious insignia, the link is no less obvious. “It’s very Ralph Lauren” has become a common expression and can be translated as “It’s the ultimate in quality, timelessness and class.”

Founded in 1967, the brand has spent the last 50 years almost singlehandedly creating the American look which is equal parts high society living, English nobility influence and classic forms. The luxury homeware collections are rich in materials, demure in styling and inspirational in character. Choose Ralph Lauren Home for a cultured, sophisticated and welcoming aesthetic.

Any luxury interior worth its salt will have at least one piece (if not several pieces) from L’Objet’s extensive catalogue.

Vibrant cobalt blue porcelain is enhanced by delicate gold flecks, encrusted table jewels come in the shape of charming turtles and pine cones and tableware is elevated a thousand times, making laying the table an event as important as the dinner itself.

Beauty and innovation aside, the quality of the American brand’s products speak for themselves with flawless finishes and gift worthy packaging.

Founder and interior designer Elad Yifrach created the designer homeware brand back in 2004 “in order to pursue [his] passion for beautiful things”, he sold his first collection to Bergdorf Goodmans and the rest is history.

5. Calvin Klein Rugs

Not an unfamiliar name in the sartorial world and an equally worthy one in the interiors, Calvin Klein’s understanding of materials, colours and textures translates well to its rug collection which are renowned for their relaxed but luxurious beauty.

Visual textures (artistic watercolours and smart geometrics to name a few) and actual textures such as cowhides and distressed finishes set the collection apart as does its earthy colour palettes which speaks of low-key sophistication.

The designs impress with their ultra-luxe silken feel created through combining Luxcelle with superior New Zealand wool. It's no suprise that they made our list of the top luxury home decor brands in USA.

Next on our top American homeware brand list is Anna New York. Capitalising on the design world’s love of agate and other organic minerals, New York-based designer Anna Rabinowicz’s catalogue wows thanks to the inherent natural beauty of her raw material.

Utilising sometime imperfect, always beautiful semiprecious gems, Anna champions one of life’s rarely remembered truths – that there is beauty in imperfection.

Anna New York’ collection of no-two-alike designs – from coasters to serving trays and cheese plates to objets – is colourful (but in a captivating way), intriguing and fun.

Palettes range from pastels to jewel tones and slicks of gold and silver trim the edges of most designs giving them a luxe finish.

7. Visual Comfort & Co.

Easily one of the most featured American lighting brands in the interior industry, Visual Comfort specialises in a classic contemporary aesthetic which suits elegant interiors.

Its wide offering spans ceramic gourds, aged iron cages, crystal obelisks and alabaster ceiling pendants.

Making the case for flush ceiling mounts and tiered crystal chandeliers, the brand’s core designs skew classical in their styling but recent collaborations with forward-thinking designers have resulted in some of the market’s most exciting light designs.

Collaborations with designers Kelly Wearstler, Michael S. Smith, Alexa Hampton and Barbara Barry as well as Amercian brands Ralph Lauren and Kate Spade secure its place as one of the most reputable lighting brands around.

Last but most definitely not least on our round up of the top luxury homeware brands from the USA is Kelly Wearstler. The Maximalist gods shouted for joy when American interior designer Kelly Wearstler went into the production business.

For years, her unabashedly eccentric furniture designs characterised her interior projects. Stools embellished with randomly scattered, coloured minerals, armchairs covered in long goat hair and fractured glass tables are the essential Kelly Wearstler arsenal.

Now her style is available to buy in the form of striped marble and perforated metal furniture, monolithic heads and heavily patterned tableware.
