With quality as a foundation, you might consider maximising the life of your special pieces with careful placement, regular light care, some infrequent deeper cleaning and careful treatment of spills, stains or scratches.

Care For By Material

A little advice is always good to have. Ensure that your new item is looked after and cared for with our general care guidelines by material.

Wood Finish

Dust off regularly with a clean, dry cloth. Make use of placemats and coasters where possible. For weekly cleaning, mix a mild washing-up liquid with lukewarm water in a bowl. Dip a soft cloth into the mixture, wring it thoroughly and wipe the surface of the wood in the direction of the grain. The wood should not remain wet as residue can damage the finish. To avoid this, immediately wipe away any excess moisture with a dry cloth.
*Please always consult instructions on cleaning products before use and only use products specifically designed for wooden surfaces.

Metal Finish

Dust metal with a microfiber cloth for best results. To remove stains use a mild household cleaner, making sure to always read the cleaning instructions beforehand and to avoid any harsh or abrasive chemicals. We recommend patch testing a small area before applying the product everywhere.
*Please always consult instructions on cleaning products before use and only use products specifically designed for metal surfaces.

Marble/ Travertine

Marble and travertine are very porous materials and are therefore susceptible to staining easily. Make use of placemats and coasters where possible, but if a spill should occur remove excess liquid immediately and wipe with a clean, damp cloth. Avoid the use of any harsh or abrasive chemicals as this can permanently damage or dull the surface of the product.
*Please always consult instructions on cleaning products before use and only use products specifically designed for stone surfaces.
*Disclaimer: Due to the natural material of marble and travertine, the pattern and surface may vary.

*Please always follow instructions on cleaning products before use and check that they are suitable for use on mother of pearl.
*Due to the natural material of Mother of Pearl, pattern and surface may vary.

Leather

Leather should be dusted or hoovered with an upholstery nozzle on a low power setting to prevent dust build up. We recommend using protective covers or throws if pets will be lying or climbing on leather upholstery. Over time, leather may need to be treated with a conditioner to rehydrate it, be careful with the product you use as some oils may change the colour of the leather. Test by cleaning a small dicreet area first before applying the product everywhere. *Please always follow instructions on cleaning products before use.

*Remember that leather may darken and wrinkle over time. This shouldn’t be seen as a defect but the natural aging of a fine material.

Care For By Product Type

Some additional day-to-day guidelines and advice on how best to ensure that your new item is looked after and cared for.

Lighting

Ensure your light is turned off before cleaning and take caution as your fixture may be hot. Dust with a soft, clean cloth. For glass or metal, use appropriate cleaning products.

*Please follow instructions on cleaning products before use and check that they are suitable for the material you wish to clean.

Rugs

We recommend vacuuming in-between professional cleaning. For stains and spills, blot the surface instead of wiping and use a mild carpet cleaning solution with warm water and a clean cloth, again, ensure to apply the cleaning solution by blotting it on rather than wiping. Rotate for even wear and keep heavy furniture off of the rug to avoid creasing and indents.
*Please follow instructions on cleaning products before use and only use products specifically designed for rugs.

Upholstery

Routinely vacuum with an upholstery nozzle on a low power setting. For stains and spills, blot the surface with a dry cloth, making sure you don't wipe and use a mild stain-removing solution and clean cloth to further blot the stain away. Test by cleaning a small discreet area first before applying the product everywhere.
*Please always follow instructions on cleaning products before use.

Cushions

To keep the shape of your cushions, make sure to plump them everyday. We recommend professional cleaning for stains.

Furniture Placement

Almost all furniture prefers mild temperatures. Excess heat or cold (whether natural or artificial) may prematurely age furniture pieces. Extreme conditions, such as very dry or very humid environments, is harsher on furniture and will affect its lifespan, aesthetics and performance. Where possible, furniture should be placed away from direct sunlight as well as direct air or heat sources. Adjust window treatments accordingly, as light patterns change throughout the day, to minimise direct sunlight reaching your furniture. You might also consider applying felt pads to the undersides of your tabletop items.
